TIMMINS - A Timmins classroom is in isolation due to a confirmed COVID-19 case.

The class affected is at Louis-Rheaume Catholic School.

The Conseil Scolaire Catholique de District des Grandes Rivieres website says there is one confirmed case, one class is in isolation, and the school is open.

This is the first Timmins school to be affected by a COVID-19 related closure.

A new COVID-19 case was reported in Timmins on Tuesday. According to the Porcupine Health Unit, it is an individual from 20 to 39 years of age.

Their exposure is under investigation. The individual was tested Oct. 1 and is in self-isolation. It is the 85th case for the health unit region, and 52nd case reported in Timmins.

While the health unit is reporting three known active cases, the case reported today is the only active one in the region. The other two active cases are people self-isolating outside the health unit region.
