Timmins festival celebrates bacon

Photos from day one; Event continues on Saturday

Timmins' first on-street food festival 'BaconFest' kicked off on Friday evening.

The event is the product of hard work from Brianna Humphrey and the team from Radical Gardens, who enticed chefs, brewers, and musicians from all corners to come to Timmins.

A portion of Second Avenue is temporarily closed between Cedar and Balsam, in front of The Working Class.

Many tempting treats are available from many Northern Ontario food vendors, in the parking lot beside the Timmins Fire Department. Access to the food service areas is free.

Those looking to sample craft beers and get up close with the musical acts will require tickets.

Winnipeg's Attica Riots, who drove 16 hours to get to Timmins, headlined Friday evening's concerts, and included a stirring cover of Arcade Fire's 'Rebellion(Lies)'.

BaconFest continues on Saturday, beginning at noon. Live musical acts will be performing all day, and well into the evening.
