These events draw into sharp focus the need for residents to lock their vehicles and to not store valuable items in your vehicle.

The Timmins Police Service is engaged in the Lock it Or Lose It program which highlights the benefits of simple habits that lead to a reduction in the incidence of being the victim of property crime.

Typically, a theft from a motor vehicle is a crime of opportunity where someone has neglected to properly secure their property.

The Timmins Police Service urges all residents to take the time to reduce the likelihood of being a victim of crime.

It is recommended that expensive items not be stored in a vehicle but if it must be stored in a vehicle, to keep it out of sight of prying eyes and would-be thieves.
