When a truck hit a parked car in Parry Sound recently, its owner claimed he wasn't responsible because his truck was stolen.
Police disagree.
They say on June 16, at 11:54 p.m., OPP received a call regarding a motor vehicle collision.
Investigation showed that witnesses saw a pickup truck collide with a parked vehicle. The pickup truck then quickly left the scene.
A short time later, police got a call from the driver of the pickup truck involved. He claimed the truck had been stolen during the time of the collision. It was located a short distance from the home of the driver and it was determined that it was not stolen.
As a result of the investigation, a 38-year-old Parry Sound man was charged with:
- Public Mischief,
- Fail To Stop At the Scene of Accident,
- Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle
He was released and is scheduled to appear in court in Parry Sound on July 20.
