CTV series Cardinal has been renewed for another couple of seasons.

Those beautiful scenes of the city will soon be attracting the eyeballs of European viewers.

The Hollywood Reporter says Entertainment One has closed multiple deals across Europe for Cardinal. The BBC has picked up the popular crime drama for the U.K. and it has also been sold in Scandinavia and Spain.

The series is based on the John Cardinal Mysteries novels from author Giles Blunt.

CTV’s CARDINAL, is described as "a gripping, six-part dramatic thriller featuring Billy Campbell as Detective John Cardinal and Karine Vanasse as Detective Lise Delorme." It premiered in Canada on January 25, on CTV.

The award-winning author grew up in North Bay, and often returns to the city for inspiration says a news release from the producers.

The series begins with the discovery of Katie Pine, a missing 13-year-old whose body is found in the shaft-head of an abandoned mine.

Cardinal was a ratings hit and became the most-watched debut of any Canadian series in the 2016/17 broadcast season. Its premiere was Canada’s highest rated show of in live-plus-same-day viewing and number one its time slot across all key demos, says the Hollywood Reporter.
