Hwy. 17 from Thessalon to east of Sault Ste. Marie has been reopened, according to the Sault OPP.

Update at 10:10 a.m. Dec. 15

Highway 17 is also now closed west of Sault Ste. Marie to Highway 552 due to deteriorating weather conditions, according to the Sault Police. The highway is also closed from Hwy. 552 to Wawa.

If you're planning to travel to Sault Ste. Marie this morning, there's a road closure that could hold you up for awhile.

Highway 17 is closed between Thessalon and east of Sault Ste. Marie due to deteriorating weather conditions, according to a notice sent out by the Sault OPP just after 8 a.m. Thursday morning.

A winter storm is packing quite a wallop in the Sault area today — a snow squall warning is in effect — with all schools and the Station Mall, among other facilities, closed in that city.
