Elections Canada may have a job for you.

The federal election is set for Sept. 20 and local returning officers are arranging for voting locations and people to staff them.

And given that the spread of COVID-19 remains a concern and there is still a need to keep a safe distance from others, there will be a need for more polls, said spokesperson Réjean Grenier.

“That means you’re going to need another gymnasium… and therefore more people,” he said.

Most of the jobs, which pay $17.22 to $23.44 per hour, are for Election Day. Poll workers also receive $54.65 for attending a training session.

Those hired to work at polling stations are also expected to work at the advance polls Friday, Sept. 10 to Monday, Sept. 13 and on Election Day, Sept. 20.

Poll workers will be required to wear masks, although vaccines are not required.
