Public Health Ontario has reported 116 new cases of COVID-19 today, as well as 129 more recoveries of previously confirmed cases.

Continuing with the recent trends reported in new cases, 51 of today's 116 cases were individuals between 20 and 39 years old and another 37 cases were individuals between 40 and 59 years old.

Peel Public Health reported 38 new cases today, Toronto Public Health reported 34 new cases, and Windsor-Essex County Health Unit reported 15 new cases. Those were the three highest reports by regional health units in Ontario included in today's epidemiology report.

The province has also reported three more deaths linked to the coronavirus today, including one person between the ages of 60 and 79 and two people over the age of 80.

There have now been 36,839 lab-confirmed cases reported by Public Health Ontario, and 2,722 deaths linked to the virus, which is 7.4 per cent of all reported cases. The provincial report further specifies 1,730 of the total deaths reported (63.6 per cent) have been residents of long-term care homes.

There are 32,663 cases now reported recovered (88.7 per cent of all cases), and at least 104 people hospitalized with the virus. However, Public Health Ontario noted in today's report more than 35 hospitals did not submit data, so the number of people hospitalized will likely increase tomorrow once more hospital data is reported.

There have been 1.7 million tests completed in Ontario with 20,896 processed since yesterday's update.

As of today's Public Health Ontario report, there are 1,454 active cases of COVID-19 in the province.

The Ontario rate of infection per 100,000 population is 247.8.

There are now seven active cases of COVID-19 in Northeastern Ontario of the 349 reported, following 330 recoveries, and 12 deaths. A total of 98,458 tests have been conducted in the region to determine these findings, including 18,669 in the Sudbury and Manitoulin districts.

The total number of COVID-19 cases, recoveries, and deaths reported by health units in the region as of 12:23 p.m. on July 13 are as follows:

  • Public Health Sudbury and Districts: 67 cases, 65 recoveries, two deaths

  • Algoma Public Health: 25 cases, 24 recoveries
