Ontario reports 580 COVID cases Sunday

Sunday's report includes 616 recoveries and two deaths that occurred in the last month

Public Health Ontario reported 580 new COVID cases in its Oct. 3 report.

The latest updates noted a total of 616 recoveries and two deaths that occurred in the last month.

The Oct. 3 updates provided by the province's public health agency and the ministry of health also reported the following data:

  • Of the 580 cases reported, 296 were in unvaccinated people, 38 were partially vaccinated, and 173 were fully vaccinated. The vaccination status for the remaining 73 cases is unknown (missing health card information). 
  • Due to incomplete reporting, vaccination status data for hospital and ICU admissions is not updated on Sundays.
  • 4,983 active, lab-confirmed cases, down from 5,012 yesterday. 
  • 144 people are hospitalized with COVID-19. 
    • More than 10 per cent of hospitals did not submit data to the Daily Bed Cenus, which could mean the number of hospitalizations increasing when the number of hospitals reporting increases
  • There are 135 COVID-positive patients in the ICU plus another 28 patients no longer testing positive for COVID-19.  
  • There are 107 COVID-positive patients on ventilators and another 22 patients on ventilators no longer testing positive for COVID. 
  • 10,599,457 Ontarians have been fully vaccinated.

Public Health Ontario has confirmed 588,101 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, and reported 573,366 recoveries and 9,752 deaths.
