KITCHENER — The YMCA is out with a new online platform that allows people to work out from home.

It's called Virtual Y. It was launched on their website with some help from Communitech, Google and Vidyard.

The website aims to promote the health of mind, body and spirit. It's not just limited to workout videos.

"It's a platform for staying physically healthy, but its also emotionally connected," said Peter Sweeney, CEO of YMCA Cambridge and Kitchener-Waterloo.

The platform has been very successful so far, "We've been getting thousands and thousands of hits on that website."

Sweeney told the Mike Farwell Show on 570 NEWS the website allows people to reach out for help if they need it, and people can lend a hand to those in need.

"The Y is really a unique place, we serve in so many ways, and we are a charity," he said.

You can make a donation to the YMCA on their website.
