Noront Steel Ltd. is under new ownership. Noront Steel Ltd. is a full service steel fabrication firm specializing in the manufacture of structural steel, plate work and miscellaneous steel. Noront projects include institutional, commercial, industrial, architectural and residential steel fabrication.
Positions:
-Experienced Structural Steel Fitters required.
-Junior Fitters/Fitter helpers also required.
Experienced Structural Fitters are responsible for fabricating, assembling and fitting structural steel while maintaining quality and accuracy in accordance with the drawings provided.
Main responsibilities will include:
Fabricating, Assembling and Fitting Structural Steel; Rig, hoist and move materials to and from workstation;
Lay out reference points and symbols on the structural steel according to the blueprint; Assemble and fit metal sections and plates using tack welding, bolting or other methods; Set up and operate various equipment such as torches, drills, various clamping tools, squares, disc grinders and other hand held tools.
Requirements: 5 years in the industry
Junior Fitters are responsible for supporting the main Fitters. Assist structural fitters in the fabrication of metal and steel structures. Assist structural fitters in setting up work as required, responsible for performing basic welding functions, and operate power grinders and other small power tools for the preparation of material. Must have knowledge of oxy –acetylene cutting.
Requirements: 3 months related experience in this industry.
CWB Welders
Must have structural steel welding experience
Must possess CWB Tickets
Hoisting experience and Ability to operate overhead cranes

Labourers
General labourers with some experience working in a structural steel shop
Duties may include: grinding, material handling, use of an iron worker, and assisting tradesman

Organizational skills and the ability to be flexible in managing changing priorities
Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
Problem solving skills
Knowledge of Health and Safety
Working Conditions:
Standing, Hand-eye-coordination, manual dexterity, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Steady days and overtime as required
