McDougall Energy is looking for a high energy, results focused individual as a Cook at our Nairn Centre Jeremy’s Truck Stop & Country Restaurant and Esso Retail & Cardlock Fueling Station located in Nairn Centre, ON.  

Reporting to the Site Manager, this position is responsible for:

  • Set up workstation with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment.
  • Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat etc).
  • Cooking and preparing a variety of fresh nutritious meals and refreshments, stirring and turning food items as needed.
  • Follow portioning preparations standards to ensure consistency for customers.
  • Monitor temperatures on oven, fridge, freezers etc. and report any mechanical issues to Supervisor.
  • Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen ensuring equipment and utensils are washed/sanitized after use.
  • Ensure all food and other items are stored and rotated properly to ensure freshness.
  • Monitor stock and advise Supervisor when shortages are identified.
  • Assists Supervisor with menu planning, costing and production strategies.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment.


The ideal candidate will have:

  • One year in a cook position or equivalent kitchen experience.
  • Experience using cutting tools, cookware, bakeware, and deep fryer.
  • Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods.
  • Ability to follow all sanitation procedures.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Knowledge of Public Health Regulations and Health & Safety Practices an asset.
  • Diploma or certificate from a culinary school or cook program an asset.
