Being as positive as possible about this cold season helps me get through it every year.
This senior realises that falls may happen more often, so that tells me that I must be more careful outside. My Betsy (cane) has her picks on, giving me more confidence to go for walks. Now I have to admit that I just cannot be positive about -30 degrees Celsius. I don’t like that!
Those kind of temperatures keep me inside. Hurray for Netflix and my books.
Don’t get me wrong, this old gal does not get bored. But, I must admit if I can escape the frigid temperatures for a few weeks to go someplace warm, I jump at the chance. (Well, you know that I can’t jump too high any more, but you get the idea.)
Winter is beautiful in many ways. It makes my world sparkly, white and clean. I like that. This old lady enjoys watching red-cheeked children playing in the snow and hearing their shouts of excitement. That’s marvellous! It always makes me smile.
The evergreens’ branches laden with snow is a pretty sight. Hey, we don’t have to shovel snow any more — someone comes to do that for us old folks and my husband is very happy about that! Another affirmative aspect for sure.
Living in Northern Ontario, snow, ice and cold in winter are just facts of our lives that we must accept. No use complaining about it. This old woman enjoys observing people going to work early in the morning rather than having to do so myself. Been there, done that … for years.
I don’t have to cope with slippery roads any more either. That’s fabulous!
Winter is a quiet time and going for a walk after dinner during a soft snowfall is magical. Being bundled against the cold makes this enjoyable.
I used to hate winter, but now having learned several ways to enjoy and cope with this last season of the year. I have come to regard its beauties and tolerate the cold.
