I was just wondering: Saying goodbye to Pappa

Finn the brussels griffon misses his Pappa, who used to call the pooch a nickname that isn’t uncommon  but has an offensive meaning unknown to many people

What has more influence; literal meaning or emotional feel?

I recently lost my Pappa.  He was my beloved caregiver and called me ‘Bugger’ and ‘Little Bugger’.

I happen to know the meaning of the word ranges from a vulgar slang term to a mild swear.

However, when Pappa called me his Little Bugger, I always felt warm with love and affection and ran to him.

So, I was just wondering, in your opinion, what is stronger: the literal meaning or the emotional feel?

“I was just wondering” is a light new Sunday feature on Sudbury.com from Finn, a Brussels griffon breed of dog, and his “mom”, Jaana Pirnes. Come back next week to see what Finn is up to. Got a question for Finn? You can email him at [email protected].
