A 15-day trial is scheduled to begin March 8 for former Sudbury contractor David Murray, who is charged with 45 counts of fraud.
Murray, owner of the home renovation firm EcoLife Home Improvements, is being represented by Elliot Lake defence lawyer Antoine Fabris.
There are almost 40 witnesses in the case, said the Crown’s office. The trial will start March 8 and go until March 11, then resume March 22-26 and March 29-30, April 1 and May 3, 4 and 6.
A case management conference will take place Jan. 28, then the matter returns to readiness court on March 1 prior to the trial getting under way.
Murray was first arrested and charged in May 2019 with 20 counts of fraud over $5,000 and three counts of fraud under $5,000 for taking deposits for work and never accomplishing the work promised.
Then in November 2019, Murray was arrested and charged with another 22 counts of fraud, bringing the total to 45 charges.
Back in December 2020, Murray was ordered to pay $3,200 in restitution related to separate charges of theft and trafficking in stolen property.
