The sentencing in the case of a City of Greater Sudbury employee who pleaded guilty to several child porn charges in June has been delayed.
James Doucette, who is being represented by Sudbury lawyer Robert Beckett, appeared in court Sept. 15, where he was supposed to be sentenced.
However, his lawyer said information including a pre-sentence report and a victim impact statement have only been shared with the defence recently.
“Unfortunately the jails were under lockdown for over a week, and we haven’t been able to share that with Mr. Doucette,” his lawyer said.
The case will return to assignment court Oct. 3 for another sentencing date to be set.
Doucette pled guilty in June to four charges: making child porn in 2006; accessing child porn in 2021; making it available, also in 2021; and, possession of a restricted rifle magazine.
He was originally charged with more than a dozen offences back in 2021.
As of 2020, Doucette was listed under the Ontario public sector salary disclosure list as being employed by the City of Greater Sudbury as an advanced care paramedic.
