Trial for murder suspect Kiaro Chilton set for March 2023

She is charged with second-degree murder in fatal 2019 incident on Melvin Avenue

A four-week trial is set to begin March 20, 2023 for the woman accused of second-degree murder in the death of a man on Melvin Avenue more than two years ago.

Kiaro Chilton, 35, is also charged with possession of a weapon, two counts of breach of probation, and one count of breach of bail following 

Chilton is represented by Mary Cremer of Toronto.

Greater Sudbury Police said they responded to a call on Melvin Avenue on Nov. 18, 2019, “to check on the well-being of the residents” at a Melvin Street address.

“Upon arrival, officers located a deceased male within the residence,” the release said. “Shortly thereafter, the other occupant of the residence, a 33-year-old female was taken into custody for murder.”

Police said the parties were known to each other.

Pretrial motions will be heard in January 2023, court heard.
