Sudbury-Manitoulin Children's Foundation

About Us

The Sudbury Manitoulin Children’s Foundation was incorporated in1976 as a Registered Charitable Foundation. Initially, SMCF owned group homes, which they leased to the Children’s Aid Society for nominal fees.  In 1982, the Children’s Aid Society no longer needed these homes, so the SMCF sold the homes.  In 1983, with the monies from the sale of the group homes and donations, the Sudbury Manitoulin Children's Foundation developed the “Send-A-Kid-To-Camp” program.  This program is designed to encompass the whole camping experience for the children by covering all camp fees, assisting with transportation to and from camp, and providing necessities and sleeping bags for children who may need them.
