Nancy Deni - School Board Trustee Candidate

As a first generation Canadian, I appreciate the value of hard work and a good education.  Born and raised in Sudbury, I obtained my Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree from Laurentian University before embarking on a 10-year career in the investment industry.  I have been married to my husband, Robert, for over 20 years and we have three teenaged children who are thriving and active at school and in their extracurricular activities.  For many years I put my career on hold in order to focus on raising my children and recently I returned to the workforce full time and am currently pursuing my CPA designation.   In addition to my roles as a wife, mother, employee, and CPA student, I have been a long-time volunteer treasurer of two non-profit organizations and an active member of St. Andrew the Apostle church.  I have also spent the last four years as a trustee of the Sudbury Catholic District School Board, a role in which I have participated wholeheartedly.  I was amongst the first cohort of trustees in Ontario to successfully complete the Certificate Course in Leadership & Good Governance offered by the Ontario Catholic School Trustees’ Association.  The role of trustee is one which I take seriously and if I have the good fortune to be re-elected, I will continue to lead and govern with care, respect, and thoughtfulness.  Our students deserve to be led by individuals who have their best interests at heart and I am one of those people.  I intend to continue to push for high standards and an education system that nurtures the mind, body, and spirit of all of our students.  Our Catholic system has done that for over 150 years and I intend to do everything I can to make sure it is there for another 150 years.  Our children deserve it.
