Artists hitting the stage at The Nash for Fort McMurray benefit

Funds from June 5 fundraiser will be donated to Red Cross for Fort Mac relief, says organizer

When Marcel Larcochelle put out a call to his fellow musicians to come together for a benefit concert for Fort McMurray, he said they all stepped up to the plate.

How many stepped up? Twenty-one of some of Sudbury’s best jumped at the chance to help out the beleaguered Alberta community.

Larochelle actually just moved back to the Nickel City from B.C. in April, but said his “heart is still out west,” so he decided to reach out to some of the local performers he knows to raise some money for the cause.

So who’s on the bill? Here’s the list:

  • Brian McDonald
  • Gene Dubreuil
  • Chuck Labelle
  • Arlene Neveu
  • Kevin Russell
  • Mike Trudell
  • Doubletake
  • J.P. Gignac
  • Gilles Giroux
  • Don Reed
  • Lou Desbien
  • Marcel Larochelle
  • Gravitas
  • Charlie Collin
  • Alain Therrien
  • JoAnne Landry
  • Yvon Doiron
  • Loma Lyns
  • Jacques Cartier
  • Jean-Marc Vaillancourt
  • Alex Patterson

Quite the bill of some of the Nickel City’s best performers, old and new.

There’s no cost to get into the June 5 event, but the hat will be passed to collect funds for Fort McMurray.

The benefit concert begins at 1 p.m. and runs until 9 p.m. The National Tavern is located at 477 Notre Dame Ave.

All proceeds will go to the Red Cross.
