Calling all gear heads: Larry Berrio's new video is a love song to sleds, quads and boats

Check out 'What a Ride' and you'll probably want to go for a ride

Forget the beat up old Chevy and Route 66 — Canadian country rocker, Larry Berrio's newest song titled "What a Ride" is dedicated to riding sleds, quads and boats in Ontario.

"I'm an avid snowmobiler, ATVs, anything that has a motor and we can ride - I'm on it!" Berrio told Sudbury.com.

"We wanted to creatively come up with a song and lyrics that would talk about power sports, but not just one in particular. We're extremely proud how the song turned out because it completely talks about Northern Ontario."

The song derived from a web video series titled "Larry Berrio Rides Ontario" sponsored by Ontario Tourism. Each episode combines a live performance by Berrio and a different ride to feed his power sport obsession.

"For instance, we played in New Liskeard at the Bikers Reunion, so we went riding Harley Davidsons, and we went up to the Lumberjack Heritage Festival in Kapuskasing, so we rode ATVs that day.

"We've had a lot of fun doing the shows."

But the biggest gig for Berrio this year took place in Timmins during the Stars and Thunder concert when he opened for country mega star, Keith Urban.

"There was 30,000 people there," Berrio said. "By far the biggest crowd I ever played for in my life."

"What a Ride" isn't Berrio's first song dedicated to gear-heads. Berrio also sings about his love of snowmobiles in the song "No Guts, No Glory", which he released in 2013.

So what's next for Larry Berrio?

The band will hit the road in the spring on a cross-country tour.

As the new ambassador of CFMOTO North America, Berrio and his band mates will travel from coast-to-coast performing shows from the back of a big rig tractor trailer that converts into a stage.

"We can literally play in the middle of a field with no hydro," he said. "(It's) a totally self-contained travelling concert."

A list of dates and stops for the upcoming tour will be announced on Berrio's website.
