Cambrian College’s School of Music will host a faculty showcase concert featuring American music for guitar, piano, trumpet, viola and voice on Oct. 14.

The concert gets underway at 7:30 p.m. in the college's amphitheatre (room 2226)

As the American presidential race nears its end, Cambrian faculty will celebrate America’s contributions to classical music by sharing their passion for a number of the nation’s esteemed composers and musicians.

The concert program includes pieces by American composers Elliot Carter, Amy Beach, Stephen Montague and Kevin McKee, who is a member of the Great Noise Ensemble. The concert will also include striking pieces such as Juilliard composer Robert Beaser’s "Mountain Songs," and the premiere of Hayg Boyadjian’s "Canto No. 1" for three guitars.

General admission is $20 and $15 for students and $10 for seniors. Tickets will be available at the door. For details, contact professor Matthew Gould at 705-566-8101, extension 7745.
