Cardboard Ryan Reynolds returns for Nat’l Canadian Film Day!

STC hosting screenings of 'The Captive' and 'Incendies' as part of the event

GREATER SUDBURY — Today, you’ll be able to get your picture taken with Ryan Reynolds — or at least a life-size facsimile.

Sudbury.com has recreated our Cardboard Ryan Reynolds, and we’re inviting you to get your photo taken with him today.

Don’t remember Cardboard Ryan? Well, back in 2013 when the Canadian actor and star of “Deadpool” was in the city filming “The Captive” with Atom Egoyan, we tried unsuccessfully to get an interview with Reynolds.

Rather than give up hope, videographer Heather Green-Oliver, a diehard Reynolds fan, created a life-size cardboard cutout of the actor, and we had great fun taking him around the city and inviting people to have their photos taken and share them on social media.

Tomorrow, “The Captive” along with director Denis Villeneuve’s “Incendie” are screening in Sudbury for National Canadian Film Day, organized locally by the Sudbury Indie Cinema Co-op.

But, since Reynolds won’t be back in Sudbury for the April 20 screening of “The Captive” (Egoyan will be Skyping at the screening, though, and “Incendie” star Mélissa Désormeaux-Poulin will be on hand), we decided to create a new Cardboard Ryan!

And we’ll be bringing him around town today! Look for Cardboard Ryan today at the New Sudbury Centre, Cambrian College, Collège Boréal, Laurentian University and downtown Sudbury. If you want Cardboard Ryan to pay you a visit, tweet to the hashtag #CardboardRyanReynolds, email [email protected], or comment below the story.

If you do get a photo with Cardboard Ryan, we ask you to tweet it using the #CardboardRyanReynolds hashtag, share it on your Instagram and Facebook and spread the word about National Canadian Film Day using hashtag #NationalCanadianFilmDay.

You’ll also be able to get up close and personal with Cardboard Ryan at National Canadian Film Day on April 20. Screenings are at Sudbury Theatre Centre. “Incendie” screens at 4 p.m., while “The Captive” screens at 7 p.m.
