She’s been called the “Goddess of Cabaret” and was named the Best Cabaret Performance of 2015 by BroadwayWorld.com.

Now, Sharron Matthews comes to the Sudbury Theatre Centre for a one-night-only music and comedy extravaganza on Sunday, May 15 at 7:30 p.m.

With a voice that could stop traffic, Matthews serves up her signature irreverent wit with solid gold music by artists such as Lady Gaga, Kiss, Styx, The Bee Gees, Guns ‘N’ Roses, Radiohead, Beyonce, Queen and so many more in an evening you will not soon forget, said a press release from STC.

Aptly described as the love child of Jack Black and Bette Midler, Matthews has had starring roles in Les Miserables, Mean Girls the movie, Global TV’s hit show Canada Sings!, and has appeared on CBC Radio’s The Debaters.

Her thrilling show is a tour de force of jaw-dropping vocals, pop-culture punches, and hit-melody mash ups in a one-of-a-kind concert experience that defies age and gender barriers, said the press release.

“Our audience loves to laugh and loves good music,” said STC artistic executive director Caleb Marshall. “I couldn’t have brought a better mashup to STC than Sharron Matthews.”

Matthews will be accompanied by Michael Doherty, co-creator alongside Norm Foster and Tania Breen of the new musical For Life, on stage now at STC, as well as the hit holiday musical A Christmas Carol.

Tickets for Sharron Matthews are $25 each and are available through the STC Box Office in person at 170 Shaughnessy St. in downtown Sudbury, by phoning 705-674-8381, or online at sudburytheatre.ca.
