In a show being dubbed “À La Carte,” four mud lovers local to Sudbury will be featuring a combination of wheel-thrown and hand-built artisan pottery that is both beautiful and functional for the month of May at Artists on Elgin.

Experienced potters Paula Walsh, Maggie Nardi, Muiriel Checkeris and Diane Béland have brought together their individual styles through the transformation from clay to functional ware.

“We wanted to create an exhibition that showcased all of our unique pottery techniques,” said Diane Béland, in a press release. “All of the pottery at the exhibition will be microwave, oven and dishwasher safe. The pottery is designed to be useful art, created to enhance your everyday life.”

The public is invited to attend the opening reception for À La Carte on Thursday May 4 from 5-7 p.m. The artists will be present to discuss their work.

Light refreshments will be served.

Artists on Elgin is located at 168 Elgin St., and is open Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visit ArtistsOnElgin.ca for more information.
