Social Sudbury: Hillis violin concert was 'amazing,' earned a standing ovation

As part of its annual concert series, on Nov. 7, Cambrian College’s School of Music presented an evening with Amy Hillis, one of Canada’s most versatile and vibrant violinists. 

Hillis is an esteemed multi-award winning musician. Most recently, she was the winner of the Canada-wide 2018 Eckhardt-Gramatté Music Competition. 

She was joined by special guest, Katherine Dowling, on the piano. 

The program included works by composers from across Canada including Carmen Braden, Jeffrey Ryan, R. Murray Schafer, Nicole Lizée, Dinuk Wijeratne, and Alice Ping Yee Ho.

The concert was held in the amphitheatre at Cambrian College.
