Constable Rick Lemieux headlines Theatre Cambrian’s Late Night comedy Friday, Nov. 18. The Timmins police officer, who first began his training in law and security in Sudbury, has always performed comedy on the side and now utilizes his skills to help the public.

“You have to be a comedian to be a police officer,” said Lemieux. “Part of teaching is entertaining.”

Lemieux has been organizing community service initiatives and visiting schools to educate children. Topics such as bullying, surrounding yourself with good friends, distracting driving, and when to call 911 are some of the topics he touches on. His recent book “The Bully and the Bystander” has sold more than 5,000 copies and is available free online.

When speaking with Theatre Cambrian staff, Lemieux reminded us that his Late Night comedy act would not be like those addressed in his visit with schools.

“This show is not for children,” Lemieux said humorously. “I won’t be bringing my hand puppet along.”

The show starts at 9 p.m. Nov. 18 at Theatre Cambrian.

Tickets can be purchased in advance online, reserved over the telephone, or by visiting the office at 40 Eyre Street between 9:00am and 5:00pm, Monday through Friday.
