Who can resist seeing Mayor Brian Bigger put down his chain of office in favour of turntables?
Up Here holds its official launch of the second edition of Greater Sudbury’s only urban music and arts festival tonight starting at 5 p.m.
“The official kick-off event features the anticipated return of the highly political DJ who goes by the name ‘Your Worship.’ Come groove to his mean funk-fuelled beats on the Downtown Sudbury Playground right in the middle of Durham Street,” Up Here said in a news release.
You can also watch a paint battle, in which four artists will compete to create the best piece of art — in only 20 minutes.
And while you’re there, down a pint of 2UP, the official beer of Up Here, specially brewed by Stack Brewing.
The Downtown Sudbury Playground even features real grass laid right on Durham Street.
Starting at 4:30 p.m., enjoy music by Mathieu Joanisse, followed by the paint battle at 5 p.m. The official welcome from Up Here founders Christian Pelletier and Andrew Knapp starts at 5:30. DJ Your Worship will get the crowd moving with his turntable skills starting at 6 p.m.
