On Oct. 3, Health Sciences North announced a $10 million donation to the Northern Cancer Foundation for the proposed capital redevelopment at the hospital.
The donation, what HSN is calling the largest single donation in the history of Northern Ontario hospitals, was made on behalf of Craig Fielding and his wife Katrina Ruotsalo, Murray Fielding, Gerry Perdue and his children, Jason, Cameron and Angela.
To honour this donation, the cancer centre is renamed the Shirley and Jim Fielding Northeast Cancer Centre.
