Downtown snowbanks remind resident of 1960s

The state of snowbanks in the city’s core could be a big reason people avoid downtown at this time of year, this letter-writer says. File photo

No wonder the people of Sudbury are staying away from the downtown area, especially in the winter time.

I had a doctor appointment on Larch Street, and when I drove downtown and saw the snowbanks and the traffic lanes reduced, at certain locations, to a single lane, I said to myself, this is the way it was in the 1960s. Somebody at City Hall is not realizing that we are in 2016.

I had a heck of a time climbing over the snow bank to put money in the parking meter, and I could not see how an older person with walking problems would get around.

Maybe it is time that they spent less money on planting flowers and more in making the sidewalks more accessible in the winter time.
