I am sleeping better knowing Paul Martin has
promised to ban handguns.
I know every criminal in Canada is quaking in
their boots just waiting to turn in their unregistered handguns
because the prime minister has finally laid down the law. I'm
sure right now they are bunkering down to discuss how they will
willingly turn over their guns to the police with the cash
reward amnesty program proposed, and collect their cash so that
our streets may be safer. I'd like to be a fly on the wall with
them, just as much I'd like to be a fly on the wall in the
Liberal war room financed by our tax dollars to make this
strategy work.
Martin seems to forget that handguns have
been strictly regulated since 1934. The system worked well and
efficiently until the 1995 attack on innocent hunters, farmers,
and anyone else that may have a cherished family heirloom.
Almost two billion dollars later we can see how well that plan
worked. It has more to do with appeasing the gun- shocked
people of the vote-rich GTA that sit comfortably in their
affluent homes watching the violence in their city and say,"
It's only Jane and Finch."
