Elect a council that is audacious and dauntless, says reader

Over the past four years, our present council had worked hard to accomplish the fulfilment of several projects that have been contingent for many years.

Maley Drive — a project in discussion for 20 years — is finally attaining completion as work continues at the intersection near Lasalle Boulevard and Frood Road.

Eleven candidates running for mayor of the Greater Sudbury Area. Most are involved because they do not agree with the achievements of the previous years, by the present council.

The cacophony from candidates opposing Mayor Bigger is deceiving the public and relaying the wrong message to the electors.

These people are creating an atmosphere of gloom and doom for our community. They are foreboding and fatalist about Sudbury in the 21st Century. If they were around when Mond Nickel discovered and developed nickel more than 100 years ago, Sudbury would not exist today.

The Kingsway Entertainment District will create employment for hundreds of people, making Sudbury attractive for tourists to travel as a place of interest and entertainment.

We lost the ferrochrome plant because of the pessimists who demonstrated to the investors they were not welcome to Sudbury.

Let’s not create the same atmosphere for future development in our city.

Multinational companies will not invest in a community if they’re not welcome.

OLG has made a commitment to establish at the KED, letters of intent have been received from hotel chains. Let’s be effusive and show investors that Sudbury is open for business.

Mark Signoretti should be cognizant of the inadequate land for development in the downtown area.

Hockey fans have been complaining for years about attending a Wolves game only to find out after leaving the arena they have been ticketed — fined for supporting our local hockey team.

Mr. Signoretti, letters of interest are very important. It shows that out-of-town investors are interested in our community and the plans which our council have projected for the future.

According to Bob Kirwan's website, the downtown will be transformed once the new library, the new art gallery, and the new convention and performance centre are completed. The present council has worked hard in the past four years to bring Sudbury into the 21st Century.

Under Mayor Brian Bigger’s leadership, council has accomplished more in the past four years than previous mayors in the past 20 years.

Voters are reminded to re-elect only the councillors that are audacious and dauntless in their vision for the future of our community.
