Letter: Fairbank Lake residents deserve same snow plowing as the rest of Sudbury

Two residents have been plowing a portion of the road for more than 16 years

I’m writing in regard to the lack of services, or more to the point , snow plowing on Mason Road at Fairbank Lake.

The city of Sudbury maintains the road, but for some unexplained reason they stop plowing it in the winter at the paved hill, two kms short of the end of the road.

There are 28 taxpaying citizens beyond this paved hill, three full-time residences, and for the past 16 years or more, the three full timers have plowed the road and hill with a half-ton truck.

The city says they can’ make it up the hill. Come on, city.

I’m pretty sure they have a machine that can get up a paved hill and sand and salt the road like the rest of Sudbury gets done.

Recently, Hydro was on a callout to Fairbank Lake and put a truck in the bush on the hill. This is now a safety issue for us taxpayers.

We would like to receive the same services as the rest of Sudbury, please. The snow plow comes to the hill and turns around. Would another two kms really break the city. Isn’t that what we pay taxes for?
