Letter: Ford's 'Trumpish' odour isn't for most Canadians

Recent actions of PCs leaving a bad taste in the mouth of reader
Ford
Doug Ford

Editor's note: The following is a letter in response to Mark Gentili's column, “Trolling lefties and pushing propaganda, this is summer under Doug Ford.”

I would describe the PC´s moves a little stronger than ping-ponging. That sounds too playful to me. Helter-skelter would be closer to describing the decisions Mr. Gentili aptly describes.

Two features bother me most of this once usually professional, rational and intellectual party.

The first thing that ties my stomach in knots is the aroma one gets reading ONN: I shudder to say it, but this apparent effort of creating a cult around Mr. Ford’s personality smells “Trumpish.”

That is not an odour most Canadians like.

And why is this government taking eons to develop a credible climate action plan? We have known for decades what the road map is. The Environment Commissioner of Ontario laid out where Ontario needs to go to further lower greenhouse gas emissions.

We know how to mitigate the impacts of what years of inaction are having us suffer and pay for. Can it be that this government is not fully informed of the multi-layered, proven benefits of pricing carbon as the key tool in a full tool box?

Just in case this is the problem behind the roadblock, I am going to send an email to my MPP, France Gélinas, asking her to politely pass on this information to the Ontario Legislature. Don’t be shy about writing your MPP. They love to hear what our concerns are.
