It has been apparent for quite a few years that the parking on Bloor Street has increased significantly.

The sole reason is due to the attraction of the Northern Ontario Railroad Museum and Heritage Centre situated on Bloor Street.

Since the hiring of Cody Cacciotti in November 2110 by the Board of NORMHC, there has been extensive activity and expansion at this facility. As the manager, Cody hired and trained staff, developed and composed grant applications, and organized funding campaigns. He further fostered partnerships with other organizations, funding agencies, tourism networks, and the Greater City of Sudbury to advertise and showcase this excellent attraction.

Under Cody’s leadership, along with the support of the board, the attendance has increased from roughly 1,250 visitors per year to approximately 15,500 a year in 2017. The Museum is now ranked third as a visitor attraction in Greater Sudbury after Science North and the Big Nickel.

When asked to support Cody’s candidacy for mayor, I solicited information regarding his background. I learned he has a bachelors degree in arts (Honours 2018) a master's degree of Arts (history 2009) and a bachelor of education in 2010. Furthermore, he has qualifications with Learning Disabilities Association of Ontario and Success Coaching Program.

To assess his viability in a political setting, my wife, Gaye, and I spent a lengthy session over dinner with Cody at Frank Madigan’s home recently. It wasn’t a grilling, but the discussion on political issues that went long into the evening in order to determine his knowledge on local municipal affairs.

We felt he had an extensive grasp of how the political system works and understanding of the pertinent issues affecting the Greater City of Sudbury.

My wife and I were very impressed with this very knowledgeable young man — so much so that we are endorsing Cody for mayor of the Greater City of Sudbury on Oct. 22.

In doing so, we are asking our friends and colleagues to follow our lead and support Cody Cacciotti for mayor.

Hopefully, the above information will encourage you to do so.
