On Friday, Nov. 29, a determined group of young people led a Fridays For Future rally at the courtyard at Tom Davies Square.

Other youth and about 50 adult supporters for action on the climate emergency listened, pledged and sang. Politicians from the city (Al Sizer, Fern Cormier), from the province (France Gélinas, Jamie West) and from the federal Parliament (Marc Serré, Paul Lefebvre) spoke about working together in a non-partisan manner facing the climate crisis.

Can you imagine? Several of our politicians requested that we “hold their feet to the fire.”

The youth around the world request urgent action and that we listen to the scientists/experts in minimizing man-made climate emergency. Experts have shown we need to reduce greenhouse gases by 7.5 per cent per year. We need to listen and follow this scientifically based advice.

Ten years ago, our house required a new heating system. My husband and I have skills, but would never dream of putting in the system. We hired and followed the advice of plumbers, electricians and HVAC installers. Similarly, let’s follow the advice of the experts in solving this Climate Change mess.
