Letter: Make climate change a priority in the federal election

Politicians need to work and get the problem under control, says reader

I have spent my life in Sudbury working to make my community better.

I have planted trees and worked to combat acid rain. I have been a social worker employed by NGOs in my city, and I have worked to enrich my community by volunteering at my playground, at my local schools, at my church and with my city.

I am writing to share with you my thoughts about my country and the upcoming federal election.

I am not a scientist, but I can sure look out my door and see climate change in action. I have never seen such a hot, humid and dry summer in Sudbury as last year. We had low water, drought and forest fires that made life more difficult for all.

Over the years, we have been able to fix many issues, but only after we accepted responsibility, developed a plan and rolled up our sleeves and did our jobs.

I know climate change is a huge issue, but I need my political leaders to roll up their sleeves and debate a little, but work and get the problem under control. We cannot wait for you.
