Letter: Ontario has become ‘have-not province’

Under the Liberal government, Ontario has now become a “have-not province.” When only a few years ago we were the economic engine of the country, today we are the “Caboose of the Nation” and one of the poorest economies in the western world.
Under the Liberal government, Ontario has now become a “have-not province.”

When only a few years ago we were the economic engine of the country, today we are the “Caboose of the Nation” and one of the poorest economies in the western world.

The Conservatives were correct to declare the Liberal government has misled the public for years with “fake” figures on the size of the province’s deficit.

With a huge deficit of billions of dollars, the Liberals are still travelling the province, recklessly handing out millions of dollars to various communities, hoping to buy votes in the June 12 election.

Rick Bartolucci’s $50 million cheque presentation to Health Sciences North two weeks ago was irresponsible from a government losing control of the deficit, and when there’s a record high unemployment in the province.

Their recent budget will add $3 billion to the province’s deficit next year.

A return to budgetary balance isn’t anticipated until the 2017-18 fiscal year, which will not happen under the Liberals, while Canada’s deficit is expected to return to balance in 2015.

It is time we turned to Tim Hudak and the Conservatives to eliminate the deficit and put us on the path of a healthy economy.

Let’s support Paula Peroni, our local Conservative candidate in the coming election, and allow Conservatives to improve the longer-term economic and fiscal strength of our province, which was once a leader in Canada’s economy.
