A dozen employees of Sudbury Counselling Services have been on strike for almost two months. They're seen here on the picket lines Dec. 8. (File)

It is the height of irony that a counselling centre, which focuses on compassionate communication and resolution of problems, is unable to deal with its own internal wounds and issues.

What a sorrow it is to see the Sudbury Counselling Center’s extraordinary counsellors on the picket line for more than a month as they try to achieve the dignity they give to their clients.

What a misery that volunteers on the SCC board are experiencing this as they seek to give back to our community.

What a calamity for people waiting for this strike to end because they are in desperate need of the excellent counselling available at the SCC.

I pray for a wakeup of all involved, to Ministry of Community and Social Services and Ministry of the Attorney General, Sudbury Counselling Center board and staff, that will pave the way for a resolution to the strike and a bright future for this great community service.

Please do whatever is necessary to get back to the negotiations and resolve this terrible situation.
