It's still the single most cost-effective tool to lower emissions

Even the dinosaurs thought they had more time

Disheartening but unsurprising poll results. Some politicians are disingenuously misrepresenting pricing pollution as unnecessary, even damaging.

The opposite is true.

Pricing carbon is the single most cost-effective tool to lower emissions across all sectors. Proof lies with BC, Quebec, California and the E.U. who have lowered emissions, thriving economies and a price on carbon.

Indeed this excellent gift-of-a-tool is a hard-sell. Truth be told: what is unnecessary and damaging are all the avoidable costs of wild forest fires, flood damage, drought, failed crops, increased insurance rates, worsened health issues, even deaths right here in Canada. I’d rather save myself from paying for that plus have extra money slipped into my pocket once a year at tax time.

In the words of a youth striking in Sudbury recently to get adults to listen to the experts and co-operate, “Even the dinosaurs thought they had more time.”
