Letter: Retiree wishes today’s kids could inherit the healthy planet he enjoyed

‘I look at what we have done to our beautiful blue planet and I am ashamed of how we as humans have mistreated our environment and ecosystems’

As a retired Baby Boomer, while growing up in Southwestern Ontario (Cayuga) I enjoyed clean water, blue skies and fresh air.

Now at 64 year old, I look at what we have done to our beautiful blue planet and I am ashamed of how we as humans have mistreated our environment and ecosystems.

Our children and grandchildren deserve to experience and enjoy the same environment we grew up with when we were young.

Instead we have left our new generation with global climate change, a warming planet, droughts, air pollution, water pollution and raging fires.

We are now in a global emergency because our provincial and federal governments’ only concerns were getting re-elected.

We as Canadians need to invoke change now, and not in 10 year.

Please do not do this for me, but for my children and grandchildren.
