I was quite startled while watching the mayor’s debate from the Parkside Centre, to hear my name mentioned by the current Mayor Brian Bigger.

I have been a member of the city’s Seniors Advisory Panel for 14 years, but none of these years was during this current council’s term of office. When Mr. Bigger was elected, I did not apply for membership on the seniors panel. I never co-chaired this panel with Barb Nott.

Things like the Greater Sudbury Seniors’ Community Network etc., that Mr. Bigger tried to associate with his term of office were established many years previously.

As to his mention of my provincial seniors’ achievement award, I received the award from the Lieut.-Gov. of Ontario, David Onley, in 2012. It was an award for my service to seniors as an individual, and had nothing to do with the City of Greater Sudbury during Brian Bigger’s term as mayor.

I hope by using my name in reference to improving the quality of life for seniors in his campaign speech will not be perceived by anyone as my support for Mayor Bigger in his quest for re-election.
