I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone who offered their support towards my successful re-election campaign.

It is such an honour to have been given the opportunity to serve the residents of Nickel Belt-Greater Sudbury for a second term as MP-elect. I have always and will continue to take this responsibility with earnest and will represent the best interest of the people of this great riding and ensure your voices are heard loud and clear in Ottawa.

Thank you for having confidence in my abilities and work ethic. I vow to do my very best to continue to work hard for you all and strive to build upon the great successes achieved in my last term.

This campaign did not begin for me and my team when the writ dropped this past September; it began after the 2015 election. In the last four years I spoke to many constituents at their doorsteps, on the phone, in meetings, as well as at community events. It was shared time again their No. 1 concern was to ensure Nickel Belt – Greater Sudbury needs are heard in Ottawa.

This upcoming term will undoubtedly come with its share of challenges, but I strongly feel that these could be translated into opportunities for the greater good. I pride myself on being a grass roots team player and have always welcomed opportunities for collaborative efforts.

I may be a politician, but I refuse to play political games with the future prosperity of my riding. Work needs to move forward. I assure you decisions will be made based on the best interests and needs of Nickel Belt – Greater Sudbury and how it can be of greater benefit to build our rural communities.

This success would not have been achieved without you. To all of you who voted for me and spent time contributing to the campaign and volunteered, I sincerely thank each of you. I am also grateful for the dedication of my wife, family and staff who sacrificed so much of their time to assist with my campaign. I am truly blessed!

I look forward to continuing working with you at a local level and to relay these efforts back to the House of Commons. I plan on forging ahead with my Liberal colleagues, as well as the members opposite across the floor, with our future Cabinet and our Leader Justin Trudeau to build a brighter future for all Canadians.

The role of an MP is to serve the residents of his riding — not only those who voted for him. The doors of my constituency offices know no political bounds. My staff and I are willing to help all residents in need within the capacity of our office. Please know my two constituency offices located in Val Caron and Sturgeon Falls will continue to operate and assist constituents with concerns related to the federal government. Once again, thank you tremendously for putting your confidence in me. I will not let you down.

Marc Serré
MP-elect, Nickel Belt
