The following letter is in response to Village Media’s Big Read on the homeless crisis in Northern Ontario, published March 11. The story was written by Sudbury.com reporter Jenny Lamothe.
Wow. This is one of the most insightful and clearly laid-out articles about the mental health/homeless crisis I have ever read, and there have been many over the past few years and even before.
I learned about how the focus is on homelessness but that dealing with this issue cannot be separated from addressing mental health and addiction situations.
It is in-depth and yet is easy to read and gave me a better idea of how to talk about what is going on and possibly to support a solution — which I assume is the goal of every journalist.
Way to go, Jenny.
