Mathematical results for the province will continue to be poor unless changes are made.

Students today do not know their times tables, they do not know how to add, subtract and divide. These are arithmetic tools that students must master before tackling mathematics.

I certainly do not agree with the person who decided that the times table do not help children.
Arithmetic, calculus, trigonometry and reading are all tools that must be mastered before tackling mathematical and geometric problems.

If I was returning to my class again this year, I would make sure my pupils would learn the times table no matter what.

Get with it Madame Minister. Insist that children learn the time tables early.
