It's something anyone of any age can do, they said

Billy Zografopoulus' efforts stood out to Sudbury couple Vern and Linda Wilson who applauded his efforts.

I read with interest your story, “Billy's 'can-do' attitude” in Northern Life on Dec. 7.

My wife and I have been collecting pop tabs for 20 years as members of the Milton Chapter of the Harley Owners Group.

Each year in May we would deliver them to the Fergus Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion using a pickup truck and a trailer.

The Legion, in turn, would use the proceeds to purchase wheelchairs for needy people and have to date purchased more than 1,000 of them ranging from basic models to fully electric.

When we moved to Sudbury, we were looking for a local charity but couldn't find one. We started asking friends to help us and were able to get members of the Sudbury Bridge Club and a local restaurant to help.

We commend Billy Zografopoulus for his initiative to help raise funds for Health Sciences North. We will now direct our contributions to him.

I would like to point out that this is the kind of charity that everyone can get involved with, from the young to seniors and all walks of life.

There is no money required, just a willingness to remove the tabs and put them in a jar or dish.
