Letter: Sudbury needs to ‘fight like hell’ for Laurentian

‘We will use our voices, together, and say no. We will be the city that says we do not accept this’

Fight Like Hell. It is not over. Our city is being gutted as we speak. It is being stripped of its life right before our eyes.

There is hurt. There is grief. There is pain. There is anger.

Right now, we will do something about it. All of us. We will use our voices, together, and say, “No.”

We will be the city that says, “We do not accept this.”

A fate that is being handed to us by someone else. We do not accept this for ourselves, for our students, for our friends, colleagues, children, and grandchildren.

All of us will take one action today. Write a letter to the media. Better yet, write a letter to the national media and international media. All of us. Write the provincial government. Write the city. Write to as many people as you can. Be loud and don't be afraid. Put yourself out there. This is the greatest fight of our generation, maybe lifetime.

This is the beginning of the story of the city that fought back.

This is our time to come together. Every single person needs to take an action today, tomorrow, the next day, for as long as it takes to turn this into the city that fought back.

We are fighting together with the strength of an army. Think of yourself or someone you know who has been affected and fight like hell. For you and for them.

Share this with everyone you know near and far, around the world. We have more allies than you will ever imagine.
