Lockerby Composite School's Kids Caring for Kids Cancer Drive was another huge success.

Staff and students raised $55,500 for the Northern Cancer Foundation's Pediatric Care Centre.

Lockerby Composite School’s dedicated staff and students, supported by enthusiastic volunteers, hit the streets on Oct. 26 armed with receipt books, maps and an infectious school spirit. Residents gave generously to a campaign that has become an annual tradition for the school and the community.

On behalf of Lockerby Composite School, I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the success of this initiative once again this year.

We are most grateful to the people of Sudbury who continue to support Kids Caring for Kids. We also appreciate the local businesses that contribute donations and items for our silent auction.

The Kids Caring for Kids Cancer Drive was launched 22 years ago by former student Laura Cotesta. Laura started this campaign while she was attending Lockerby and fighting her own battle with cancer.

Staff and students have kept Laura in their hearts and minds by fulfilling her dream and honouring her legacy.

With this year’s donations, Lockerby Composite School has raised more than $880,500 for pediatric cancer care in the north.

There’s still time to contribute to the campaign for 2017.

To make a donation to the Kids Caring for Kids Cancer Drive, call the Northern Cancer Foundation at 705-523-4673 (HOPE) or Lockerby Composite School at 705-522-1750.
