Letter: Thumbs up for back yard hens

Other municipalities already have bylaws for the same and we could use those

I would like to support having back yard hens.

We currently allow 10 homing pigeons, six rabbits, two ferrets, two snakes unlimited number of cats and dogs.

Hens are quiet (not like the roosters or barking dogs or howling cats), produce fresh range-fed eggs helping to provide food security, eat up table scraps (they are omnivores like us), produce high potency fertilizer, can be pet therapy for children and allow children to realize where their food is coming from.

This is not a big process as other municipalities already have bylaws for the same and we could use those. For these reasons, I support allowing those who want to have back yard hens, to have them.
