Letter: Trudeau's actions have given Canada a black eye

Level of voter disapproval greatest since Liberals came into power

Quoting from a July 10 news articles regarding the Angus Reid Poll that 71 per cent of people believe the Trudeau government did the wrong thing and should have fought Khadr’s civil suit in court.

This is all the more impressive considering the public has been on the receiving end of an onslaught of lecturing this past week from those in the media and establishment circles who worked overtime to spin this deal in the best possible light.

Clearly the people trusted their own intuition and assessment of the facts more than the many attempts to rationalize this payment."

Thus, Canadians, and especially those brave souls who have served our country by laying their lives and limbs on the line for their country, have spoken loud and clear.

The level of voter dismay and disapproval, even among staunch Liberals and those who still fancy Justin Trudeau as a star performer, is the greatest since the Liberals have come to power.

What has continued to amaze me, and many other Canadians, is the obsequious performance of much of the main Canadian media towards Trudeau's many gaffs, misstatements, missteps and blowing billions that we can't afford on other countries and foreign causes in order to enrich his performance on the world stage.

Much of the main media is currently complaining about lost markets and lost revenues because of the stiff competition from social media and the Internet. Many are on the brink of bankruptcy or downsizing operations. Media moguls are apparently campaigning their friends in the Liberal hierarchy to obtain funding or government assistance to make up for their lost revenue and to continue being relevant in today's news marketplace.

Now, might that particular media's subservient journalism, non-critical and generally complimentary reporting of anything Liberal have anything to do with obtaining operational funding from the Liberal government? Perish the thought, you say?

It should be obvious that any media that has to rely on government largess would always be suspected of tainting the news in their benefactor's favour. He who pays the piper, calls the tune.

Trudeau's precipitous action with Khadr was definitely not called for, not even by the Supreme Court of Canada, and has given Canada a black eye.
